Instructors

Our courses are taught by highly competent instructors who have shown their dedication to Danzan Ryu Jujitsu. They have been certified as massage instructors by the AJJF and the Danzan Ryu Seifukujitsu Institute.

Professor Robert Hudson, Hachidan

Robert was the person who brought the idea of the Massage Program to the late Professor Bud Estes, Judan, in response to the fact at the time there was little, if any, training in this major aspect of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu. Not only is Robert one of the original founders of this program, he was responsible for accumulating techniques from all of the living students of Professor Okazaki. Robert has run classes in the program since its inception in 1981 and has been associated with jujitsu since 1971. He runs his dojo, Halau O Ho'Omana, at his residence in Apache Junction, AZ.

Edward Shatzen, Yodan

Ed has been practicing jujitsu since 1980. With a Masters degree in Anatomy and Physiology and experience teaching A&P at the college level, Ed is a Massage Practitioner who graduated from the massage course in 1995 and has been a valuable addition to the instructional staff.

Matt Moller, Yodan

Matt began training in the healing arts of Danzan Ryu JuJitsu under the tutelage of Prof . Robert Hudson in 1994. As a seifukujitsu therapist he has over seven hundred hours of formal classroom training and has provided over four thousand hours of seifukujitsu therapy to many clients. His clients have included cancer survivors, world class athletes, various health care professionals and a parapalegic.

Hillary Kaplowitz, Yodan

Hillary began the massage program in 1997, completed all 3 modules and then became an instructor in the program. An accomplished Seifukujitsu therapist, she has a large body of students, friends, family members and clients under her care. Hillary is the schoolhead of Pacific JuJitsu Kai in Santa Monica, CA, where she teaches the Danzan Ryu system as taught to her by her Sensei, Professor Robert Hudson. Over the years more than 20 students from her dojo have graduated from the massage program, and many have gone on to complete further training.
